Enroll in a First Year Transition Course

The best way for many students to have a successful first year in college is to enroll in a course designed to challenge their intellectual curiosity and ability while also preparing them for college and their intended major.

Some first year transition courses are not aligned with a student's major but rather with general subjects and skills. Freshmen seminars are small classes on interesting topics that count toward UWM's undergraduate requirements for general education (or GERs).

If you are entering a professional major, you have the option of first year transition courses designed to introduce you to your major, your faculty, and your career options.

With almost 100 first year course sections available, your advisor can help you select the First Year Transition Course that is most suitable for you!
