  1. Submit required application documents for review. Priority application deadline is March 1, 2014. If you have questions during this step of the process, connect with Undergraduate Admissions at contact.uwm.edu. (email, live chat, social media, call - from this site)
  2. Submit FAFSA at fafsa.gov
  3. Wait to hear from The Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff regarding your admission status with either a phone call or a letter in the mail. Qualified transfer students will have at least a cumulative 2.0 GPA.
  4. Confirm your admission by paying the Confirmation Deposit.
  5. First day of classes: September 2, 2015

New Freshmen

  1. Sign up for placement testing
  2. Pay $100 New Student Confirmation Deposit.
  3. Submit Housing Contract and $100 University Housing Deposit or complete residency policy exemption paperwork
  4. $50 late registration fee if not registered before the first day of classes
  5. Connect with the New Student Orientation Office

Transfer Students

  1. Pay your $150 New Transfer Confirmation Deposit.
  2. $50 late registration fee if not registered before the first day of classes
  3. Sign up for placement testing, if you do not have transferable math or English classes or have not already taken UW System placement tests
  4. Connect with the New Student Orientation Office
  5. Register for classes with your advisor

All Other Students

  1. $100 tuition deposit before by the first day of classes
  2. $50 late registration fee if not registered before the first day of classes
  3. Register for classes with your advisor

Misrepresentation Policy
The UWM Office of Undergraduate Admissions adheres to the Statement of Principles of Good Practice established by the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC).  As part of those principles, members agree that they will:

ccurately represent and promote their schools, institutions or services by:
a
. providing precise information about their academic majors and degree programs. Such information shall include a factual and accurate description of majors, minors, concentrations, and/or interdisciplinary offerings that apply toward the completion of the undergraduate degree;
b. describing in detail any special programs, including overseas study, credit by examination or advanced placement.

After Being Admitted

  • Pay your Confirmation Deposit
  • Register for placement testing
  • Submit your housing contract and deposit fee (or exemption form)
  • Attend new student or family orientation

Placement Testing

All new freshmen are required to take placement tests to determine their eligibility in math and/or English and have the option of taking placement exams in chemistry and foreign language.
