classIf you were a UWM student at one time, but decided to pursue a different path and now want to graduate as a Panther – welcome back!

You already know about the great educational opportunities that await you, and perhaps some wonderful new options have been added since you were last here! This information will let you know what we will need to add to your existing file to get your application moving forward.

Admission Guidelines

If you were once registered in an undergraduate degree program at UW–Milwaukee, but have not attended for one full academic year or more, the readmission process is pretty easy. For your readmission to UW–Milwaukee, we will be looking for at least an overall 'C' (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) grade point average for college work completed at both UWM and elsewhere. Admission to the University, however, does not necessarily guarantee admission to your desired major or program. To gain admission to your major, you will need to meet specific GPA and credit requirements.

If you left UWM in poor academic standing, there are a few extra steps we need you to complete before we can review your file for readmission.

Application Process

  1. Apply Online
Applications are accepted beginning September 15 for the fall semester. For most programs, applications are accepted until July 16 for fall (December 7 for application, December 14 for supporting documentation for the spring term). To apply now, visit apply.wisconsin.edu. Or complete our one page paper reentry application.

    Early Deadlines
For nursing applicants, priority consideration is given to applications received by March 1 for Fall and December 1 for Spring. Architecture applicants for fall 2012 have a June 1 priority deadline. After the priority date, applications are considered on a space-available basis. For art & design or music, apply by March 15 for scholarship consideration.

  2. Send Transcripts
If you attended another college or university while away from UWM, we require an official college transcript sent directly from the school. If you are currently taking college classes, please include a list of your current college classes on the application form. We value your work at other institutions, and we want to award as much credit as possible. Visit our transfer credit page for more details.

  3. Admission Decisions
Soon after we receive your application, we will send you information about how to check the status of your application online, via our PAWS (Panther Access to Web Services) student information system. Log onto PAWS to monitor your application “to do” items. Once all of the “to do” items disappear, your file is complete and is ready for an admission decision. During peak times, you may expect to wait 4-6 weeks for a decision.
