Board of Trustee Responsibilities
As a trustee, you serve in a stewardship role-setting policy and monitor adherence to that policy to meet the mission of the UWM Alumni Association (UWMAA) and the changing needs of its membership. It is your responsibility to:

  • Understand the purpose of the Alumni Association as stated in the Mission Statement.

  • Become knowledgeable about the programs and benefits of the Alumni Association and act as an informed advocate within the community.

  • Understand and follow the Association’s by-laws.

  • Ensure adequate funding and budgetary controls are observed.

  • Attend 75 percent of the regular Board meetings and review materials distributed. Board meetings are held to discuss and act upon recommendations made by the UWMAA committees.

  • Actively participate in at least one UWMAA committee. Committee meetings are held to develop activities and policies forwarding the work of the Association.

  • Attend or participate in the Association’s special events.

  • Encourage Sustaining Contributor level membership in the Association.

  • Willingly commit time, personal knowledge and enthusiasm to support the mission of the UWMAA.
