[2002-2003][2003-2004]
2003-2004
The 2003-04 PSOA Black and Gold Committee is charged with the following tasks:
- Identifying extracurricular opportunities for students, such
as visiting artists programs, field trips, master classes participations,
professional career skill development workshop.
- Working on developing exhibition and performance venues with
community partners to showcase student work.
- Advising the dean on which curricular, extra-curricular, and
technical needs should be supported by funds generated through
the imposition
of differential tuition.
- Improving and expanding student assessment of courses, instructors,
and programs.
2002-2003
The following is a list of ideas and questions that were developed and discussed
at the first two meetings of the PSOA Black & Gold Committee:
- Create a school-wide event where students from all departments might
exhibit and perform in order to bridge disciplinary and departmental
separateness.
- Create a school "First Friday" every
month to be hosted on a rotational basis by the school's departments
in order to
highlight, inform, and share program activities with students,
staff, and faculty
beyond their department.
- Develop the school's participation in the fall convocation into
a school wide meeting for all students (not just new freshman
and transfers) that could include sign-up for peer mentoring and
discussion
of or workshops on topics such as time management, what it means
to be an arts major, and exhibition and performance opportunities.
- Create a spring semester "kick-off" event
for new and returning students
- Create a "send-off" event
and an undergraduate thesis show for all graduating seniors.
- Create school wide social events for students, such as a Halloween
party.
- Create a survey to measure incoming student
expectations.
- How can the school minimize "shock" to
new students making the transition from high school to the university
and the
demands
of our school curriculum?
- How can students'
progress toward timely graduation improve?
