The student holding a BA or BFA in dance from UWM may have already completed the above requirements with the exception of the two semesters of student teaching.

Dance graduates holding a BA or BFA in Dance from institutions other than UWM who apply for admission to the Dance K-12 certification program:

  1. May be subject to additional course work.
  2. Must provide two letters of recommendation, one of which must come from the applicant's undergraduate dance program.
  3. Must contact the UWM Dance Department to schedule their participation in an Intermediate or Advanced Modern Technique class taught by a full-time faculty member.
  4. Must either provide a video-tape of their own choreography, or arrance to perform a 1-2 minute example of their choreography for Dance faculty on the day they attend to participate in the modern technique class.

Significant experience in human relations must be accumulated before certification will be granted. Register with the Human Relations Office in the School of Education immediately.

The certification student is urged to participate in technique classes.
