UWM
University Choir
Dr. José Rivera, director
MWF 2:00 - 2:50
The University Choir is a 115-voice mixed (men
and women) chorus with a mission to sing and perform outstanding
choral literature at the highest artistic levels. Members of the
choir are from all areas of study at UWM, including music majors,
graduate students, english, education, architecture and business
majors, among others. Many members of the University Choir sang in
high school and were leaders in their high school choirs. The ensemble
performs a diverse selection of both sacred and secular choral music
in all styles and genres, and offers its singers a performing organization
for their personal enrichment and musical fulfillment. Historically,
the University Choir has sung concerts both on campus and around
the greater Milwaukee region, including major works with the UWM
Symphony Orchestra each fall. Membership is by audition and instructor
permission; auditions take place the first week of each semester.
Information on auditions can be obtained by calling the choral office
at 229.3608, or by stopping by the bulletin board across from Music
room 165 and reading the Choral Information Board.
