The Roger L. Fitzsimonds Distinguished Lecture on Leadership Excellence provides an annual forum featuring internationally acclaimed scholars and business leaders who present cutting-edge perspectives and practices related to leadership excellence in business.
The series was established in honor of the late Roger L. Fitzsimonds, former Chairman and CEO of Firstar Corporation. A member of the first four-year class to graduate from UWM’s business school when he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1960, he went on to earn his MBA in 1971, and an honorary doctorate in 1989. Mr. Fitzsimonds was an exceptional and highly respected business leader, assuming leadership roles in many businesses and civic organizations, including the Greater Milwaukee Committee and the Metropolitan Milwaukee Associate of Commerce. A community champion and philanthropist, Mr. Fitzsimonds was particularly interested in issues related to education and opportunity, and was intensely involved with his alma mater UWM and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, among other organizations.
