Career Ready Internship Program

The Career Ready Internship Program provides the funding for select organizations to create new paid internships and to convert previously unpaid internships into paid internships for eligible UWM juniors and seniors for Spring 2014 and Summer 2014.
Applications are now being accepted for SUMMER 2014 only.

Purpose

Internships are both an important recruiting strategy and a key way for students to gain real-world, academically-connected career knowledge.  Understanding that students who demonstrate financial need are often unable to pursue internships for financial reasons, the purpose of the Career Ready Internship Program is to create funded internship opportunities for these students and enable them to succeed in these opportunities. The Career Ready Internship Program is funded by a grant from the Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation which funds internships for Spring 2014 and Summer 2014.

Which Organizations Are Eligible

Organizations interested in creating new internships or converting previously unpaid internships into paid internships must:

-Offer internships that provide students meaningful, career-related experience.

-Not use Program dollars to displace the source of funds for existing paid internships.

-Consider University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee eligible junior and senior applicants for Program-funded internship opportunities.

-Communicate on a weekly basis with a Career Ready Internship Program representative during the course of the internship to ensure progress and accountability.
