Proposal Development Manager

The College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks a Proposal Development Manager with experience in developing scientific/technical grant proposals to further enhance the current level of funded research and research proposals success rate. This position will be responsible for managing the development of research and other proposal activities of CEAS faculty including the research, planning, development, writing, and submitting of scientific/technical grant proposals to secure sponsored funding. This position will provide grant research, preparation, and writing training for various research funding opportunities to CEAS faculty in keeping with university policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local regulations for proposal submission. This position will provide timely and direct customer service to CEAS Principal Investigators of diverse research categories. This position will work closely with the CEAS Director of Research Support. This position will report directly to the CEAS Associate Dean for Research. This position is a full-time 12-month non-teaching Academic Staff, probationary-renewable contract at salary grade 6.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in English or related field with a minimum of 6 years experience; documented experience in developing and/or writing research grant proposals in technical or higher education environment for submission to large state/federal agencies and/or business-to-business proposals; evidence of excellent editing skills, including technical knowledge, grammar, and format; ability to learn and to explain technical information clearly, concisely, and accurately; evidence of ability to develop new approaches, methods or techniques to resolve problems; evidence of ability to work as part of a team and with diverse groups. Preferred qualifications include experience in the development, and the submission of scientific/technical grant proposals; previous record of secured sponsored funding; excellent organization skills, including the ability to manage a large variety of tasks and set priorities; able to work under tight deadlines; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; excellent research, analysis, and problem-solving skills; highly detail-oriented; proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Acrobat; Web browsers, and e-mail; comfortable making public presentations to small and large groups.
