Frequently Asked Questions about the ATAD Certificate Program

How can I apply?
Please fill out the ATAD application form and email it to the ATAD Coordinator, Michelle Silverman, M.S., OTR, at silverm2@uwm.edu. If you are not already admitted to a UWM graduate degree program you must complete a UW System online admission application and have an official undergraduate transcript sent to the Graduate School.

Is there a deadline?
No, the enrollment period is rolling. You can apply at any time. Deadlines only surround class schedules.

Is the program online?
There are some courses in Occupational Science & Technology and Exception Education that are offered online, however most courses are in person. We are in the process of offering additional courses online in the future. Please refer to the schedule of classes for the most up to date course offerings.

Are there any prerequisites?
Admission to the certificate program requires evidence of a basic knowledge of disability and computer applications, and an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 or a graduate GPA of at least 3.0.

What courses can I take?
The certificate program is a 15 credit, non-degree program. There are courses offered in Occupational Science & Technology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Exceptional Education. Students will choose electives in the areas of Assessment and Intervention, and finish with a Capstone Course. How much does the program cost?
Tuition fee information may be found at the UWM Business and Financial Services Office under Tuition and Fees information.

How long do I have to complete the program?
Students must complete all certificate courses within 3 years of initial enrollment in the certificate program.
