Human Movement Sciences - Exercise & Fitness
Program Overview
Exercise & Fitness Program
The Exercise & Fitness program is offered by CHS' Department of Human Movement Sciences (HMS). With a submajor in Exercise & Fitness, your health care training will be in both preventative and rehabilitative functions, preparing you for a career as a service provider in the health and fitness industry. Your future work settings could include commercial health/fitness clubs, community fitness centers, corporate/industrial fitness facilities, and clinical agencies with specialization in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation.

Exercise & Fitness is one of four undergraduate submajors offered by HMS, where nearly 70% of our graduates have been offered employment at the site of their internship and nearly 90% find employment within 3 months of graduation. HMS graduates boast a nearly 100% pass rate on national exams, earning specialized professional certifications in Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning, or from among those offered by the American College of Sports Medicine. Among our faculty are past and present Fulbright Scholars, presidents and fellows of international and national academic organizations, award-winning teachers, and NIH funded researchers, all of them committed to providing the highest quality educational experience.
