Occupational Therapy

Mission/Vision Statement

Mission

The Occupational Therapy Program mission is based upon sharing in the mission of the University of Wisconsin System, the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the mission and vision of the College of Health Sciences. We will attain and sustain premier status through excellence in research, teaching, service and accessibility.

Excellence in research is evidenced by the scholarship of interdisciplinary generation, dissemination, integration and application of new knowledge related to occupation, occupational therapy, and health.

Excellence in teaching is evidence by the production of highly competent entry-level (professional) and advanced (post-professional) occupational therapists that will lead best practice in occupational therapy.

Excellence in service is established by recognition from professional societies and the public. We will achieve this mission through the provision of an integrated system of instruction, fieldwork experiences, community service, and scholarship.

Excellence in accessibility is established by the design of academic programs that optimize opportunities for participation by those seeking the education.

Vision

We envision ourselves as a premier occupational therapy program recognized worldwide by our academic peers, field practitioners, alumni, present and future students, the people they serve, and the public. This premier status is exemplified by our study and promotion of the role of occupation in the creation of a healthy society. We envision achieving this status with in the first decade of the 21st century.
