Yiorgos Papaioannou, Ph.D. Assistant Professor
Interests and Expertise Dr. Papaioannou's research includes work on characterization of mechanical effects and local tissue deformations/loads in both in-vivo and in-vitro studies of the human joints; Validation of subject specific finite element modeling of human joints using in-vivo high accuracy three dimensional arthrokinematics form high speed biplane radiography and its application to joint stability, osteoarthritis and preplanning of surgical reconstruction i.e. anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. He has also researched sensor assisted intelligent surfaces (human machine interfaces, seating systems), sensor assisted wheelchair control that features shared autonomy, transportation wheelchairs with high impact safety and advanced sensor-driven comfort for people with mobility problems.
