Professional advisors like Joel occupy a unique niche within the university as they guide, assist, and educate students from the first weeks of college through graduation. His current advisees are those undergraduate students seeking degrees in Athletic Training or Kinesiology.
Joel partners with students to design an individualized plan for academic and personal success. He helps students enact their plans and achieve their dreams by providing guidance related to academic and career goals, undergraduate major and course/class selection, curricular requirements, university policy and procedures, and campus support services and resources.
In addition, Joel serves as a liaison between the faculty and teaching staff and undergraduate students regarding program requirements, and he collaborates with the academic departments to develop and refine undergraduate student policy and procedures. He also represents the College of Health Sciences on campus committees and engages in student affairs initiatives which provide opportunities for student engagement, growth, and success.
Joel strongly encourages students to schedule an appointment with him each semester during their enrollment in the College of Health Sciences.
Joel is a member of UW-Milwaukee’s Academic Staff and works collaboratively with other student affairs professionals at UWM and beyond to continually improve the student experience. Prior to joining the College of Health Sciences in 2011, Joel worked in the Department of Residence Life at the UW-Madison.
