Workload Unit Allocations
An annual fulltime workload is 24 units. Units are assigned using the following model:
Instruction (units are for one semester or equivalent length courses):
Lecture: 1 contact hour = 1 unit of load; Courses with less than 12 students may be adjusted to fewer units of load after review; Sections with more than 45 students (assumes course is taught without support of GTA or Reader) will be weighted as follows:
46-60 students: 1 contact hour = 1.5 units of load
60 + students: 1 contact hour = 2 units of load
Lab/Discussion/Activity Courses: 1 contact hour = .75 unit of load; Lab sections with less than 8 students may be adjusted to fewer units of load after review
Undergraduate Field Experience/Work Courses: 1 contact hour = 1 unit of load; an additional unit of load may be awarded for establishing/supervising field experience/work sites
Internship Course: 5 units of load are assigned for supervision and evaluation of internship placement sites
Administration (units are for one academic year):
Undergraduate Coordinator: 6 units of load
Clinical Coordinator (Establishment of sites and coordinates necessary contracts and program memoranda, coordinates student background checks, coordinates student placement): 3 - 6 units of load dependent upon number of students and majors/submajor
Administrative Assistant to Chair: 1 - 6 units of load dependent upon assigned duties
Research/Scholarship:
None is required.
Service:
On-going governance involvement at department, school/college and campus levels is expected and does not warrant workload adjustment consideration.
