Programming for Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) Students

The Bridges to the Future Program is collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee & Milwaukee Area Technical College. The program aims to increase the number of underrepresented students in the biomedical science profession, especially research fields. During the Bridges to the Future Program, students are paired up with a UWM faculty member in biomedical research throughout the fall and spring semesters. These research positions will provide students with the opportunity to merge academic theory with practical application in the work place. Prospective students work a maximum of 15-20 hours per week as Research Technicians I at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the academic school year. Students are required to keep a detailed lab notebook, submit weekly progress reports and copies of their lab notes. During the spring semester, students select a research topic and submit a four page research proposal at the end of the term in order to complete an in-depth eight summer week research project.
