NIAAA Curriculum Training

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) selected CABHR scientist Audrey Begun, Ph.D., to lead the effort to write, disseminate, and evaluate a curriculum that teaches master’s level social work students about alcohol use disorders. When the curriculum was completed in 2006, Begun and her CABHR colleagues conducted 20 training seminars for social educators across the country, reaching a total of 590 people.

Begun and her team are now analyzing data to evaluate the training's effect on the educators’ knowledge, comfort with the material, attitudes, and teaching practices. The curriculum is available free of charge at www.niaaa.nih.gov.
