The Peer Mentoring Program
emphasizes the connection between the academic and the social. The Peer
Mentors take a year-long course to develop their knowledge and skills
in writing, communication, interpersonal ethics, and computer technologies.
They use these skills in the Peer Mentoring Center (Bolton Hall 192),
which provides a warm and comfortable environment for students to work
together and form lasting friendships.

Who is eligible?

Any UWM student . Although,
typical entrance into the program is through faculty recommendation, students
can apply directly. Almost all of the students accepted into the program
are at the end of their first and beginning of their second year.

Students in this program
gain vital writing, communication, and technology skills while working
in a collaborative setting with other undergraduate and graduate students
and UWM administrators. Because of the range of situations, which arise
at the PMC, mentors learns about how to negotiate creative solutions for
the wide variety of problems. If you want to make a difference for other
students on the campus and if you want to help people get through difficult
times, you should consider the Peer Mentoring Program.
