Oral Skills Non-credit Course for International Teaching Assistants

The non-credit course, Oral Skills for International Teaching Assistants, offers extensive practice in English pronunciation and presentation skills, and the course includes familiarization with academic culture and norms.

The class meets weekly for one two-hour session and each participant also meets weekly one-on-one with the instructor for individual practice and feedback on speaking skills. Each student will take the UW-Milwaukee Teaching Assistant Assessment (MITAA) at the end of the course and be given a final MITAA score.

Oral Skills Class Schedule

Fall 2012: September 14 - December 7

MITAA score and advance registration required by September 7.

Tuition: $1,150
Note: Some UWM Schools and Departments will reimburse the cost of the course for international teaching assistants who achieve a passing MITAA score at the end of the course.

Class is designed for graduate students with teaching assistantship appointments.

Other graduate students may register for this course on a space available basis. All students must take the MITAA prior to registration.
