 | Application Process You have reviewed the admission requirements and are ready to take the next step. Here's what you need to do: - Decide When to Apply
FOR SPRING 2009 ONLY: The December 1 deadline has been extended to Monday, December 15. All materials including the application and supporting documents (test scores, fees, transcripts, etc.) must be received in our office by this new deadline.
You are encouraged to apply early. The sooner UWM receives a completed application, the sooner you will receive an admission decision! Applications for fall are first accepted the preceding September and spring applications are accepted the preceding summer.
There is an application deadline, too! If you want to start in the fall, the deadline is July 1. If you are thinking about coming to school in the spring, the deadline is December 1.
Just like the admission requirements, some schools and colleges have their own deadlines:
School of Architecture and Urban Planning You need to submit a complete application by January 1 for the summer/fall semester or November 1 for the spring semester. Applications completed after these deadlines may be reviewed on a space available basis. Please contact the School of Architecture and Urban Planning if you have further questions at sarup-advising@uwm.edu or 414-229-4015. Peck School of the Arts You should complete your application by January 1 for the fall/summer semester or November 1 for the spring semester to receive priority. Applications completed after these dates may be reviewed on a space available basis. Please contact the Peck School of the Arts if you need more information at 414-229-4763. College of Nursing You should complete your application by January 1 for the fall semester or November 1 for the spring semester. Applications after received after this deadline will be made on a case-by-case basis. In general, exceptions will be considered for students whose presence would uniquely enrich the UW-Milwaukee community. Considerations may include diversity, exceptionally strong academic preparation, or special talent/ability. If appropriate, please submit with the application a supporting note or personal statement highlighting the unique contributions the applicant would bring to the College of Nursing. Special consideration will also be given to applicants from the UW-Colleges. Please contact the College of Nursing if you need more information at 414-229-5482.

We encourage you to complete the on-line application although you can complete the paper application. Our office receives on-line applications the first business day after you submit them. These applications make it easy to pay the application - processing fee with a convenient credit card option. You need to pay the application fee unless you have previously attended UWM as a degree candidate of you are transferring directly from on eof the thirteen 2 year campusses in the UW-System.
The same paper application is used at all UW System campuses and is available at all Wisconsin high schools, many Illinois high schools, and always by mail. To have application materials sent to you, please contact the Department of Recruitment and Outreach at 414-229-2222.

- Transcript
You are required to submit official high school and all postsecondary transcripts. The high school transcript must have all four years of high school with grades and a graduation date posted. You should contact your high school and all colleges attended to request an official transcript be sent to:
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Enrollment Services P.O. Box 749 Milwaukee, WI 53201-0749
If you are using UPS, FedEx or other ground shipment companies to send us your transcripts, please address them to:
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Enrollment Services Mellencamp Hall 274 2442 E. Kenwood Blvd Milwaukee, WI 53211-3363 Official transcripts from each institution attended beyond high school must be sent to the Department of Enrollment Services as well. An official transcript is usually sent from one institution to another with an official school seal. (Please note that if you open the official transcript envelope, the transcript will no longer be considered official). Transcripts can be requested in person or in writing from the institution's Registrar's office. Click here for more information on how to request a transcript from a UW System campus to be sent to UWM.
If you have completed your GED or HSED, you are required to submit an official high school transcript and an official copy of your GED/HSED test scores.
Please note, with the exception of summer session, UWM cannot make an admit decision for a transfer applicant with two semesters of outstanding work. For example, if you are currently enrolled elsewhere and wanted to apply for the Summer or Fall term at UWM, you would need to submit a college transcript that included grades for the previous Fall semester (if the transfer school was on a semester system). If the transfer school were on a quarter system, this transcript would need to include grades for the previous Winter quarter. If you wanted to apply for the Spring term, the transfer college transcript would need to include grades for the previous Spring term.
Test Scores UWM typically does not require transfer students to submit official ACT/SAT scores, but occasionally a student may be asked to submit them. You will be notified if test scores are required.
If you have taken Advance Placement exams (AP), International Baccalaureate exams (IB), or the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams and would like UWM to evaluate these scores for possible credit, please have scores sent from these testing agencies to the Department of Enrollment Services. UWM cannot accept scores appearing on other college transcripts. We need the official score report from the original testing agency to consider the results for credit awards.
- Now it is Our Turn to Make an Admission Decision
Once we have received all the information we requested from you, your application is considered complete. Then it is our turn to make an admission decision. We want to review your documents carefully and since we process over 10,000 applications each year, this can take some time. Please allow 6-8 weeks during peak application periods for us to process your completed application.
- Visit Campus
Visiting UWM and taking a tour will give you a personal feel for campus, the ability to ask current students questions, gather information on campus resources and activities, and so much more. Contact the Department of Recruitment and Outreach at 414-229-2222 to schedule a tour.
