How do I register?

To register for the classes listed below, go to the Wellness Calendar. Once at the calendar, click on the desired class by locating the appropriate start date. The details of the class will pop up, click on the Register to this Event link to complete the registration form.

How do I pay?

Payment is due by Monday, February 16, 2015. Checks or exact cash only. Checks should be made out to UW Milwaukee Human Resources and delivered to Engelmann Hall 125, Attention: Susan Curtis. (Note: If after registration you cannot attend, please cancel your registration by contacting Susan Curtis at curtissf@uwm.edu.)

Reminder: If you have any health issues or if you do not regularly engage in physical activity we recommend that you consult with your physician BEFORE beginning an exercise program.

There will be NO refunds issued after the start of the classes listed below. Also be mindful of others that may be on the waiting list for these classes.

Spring Wellness Classes:

Tuesdays: Pilates Express with Tracy Oles-Fairchild

Date: Tuesdays 8 Session Series (Feb 17, 24 March 3, 10, 24, 31 April 7, 14) NOTE: There will be no class March 17 due to Spring Break.
Time: 12:00 - 12:30 pm
Location: Greene Hall Room 131 (Entrance off Downer Ave)
Fee: $25.00

Pilates focuses on a body conditioning routine that helps to improve core control, coordination, balance, and posture through body awareness. The goal is to use effective movement strategies to build long, lean muscles and increase flexibility and coordination. There will be different movements which are performed seated, sanding, on all fours, or lying on your back, side, or front. Please bring a mat. Everyone can benefit from Pilates, regardless of physical abilities size, shape, gender or age.

Tuesdays: Fit & Flexible with Alina Gur

Date: Tuesdays 8 Session Series (Feb 24 March 3, 10, 31 April 7, 14, 21, 28) NOTE: There will be no class March 17 and March 24.
Time: 5:15 - 6:00 pm
Location: Greene Hall Room 131 (Entrance off Downer Ave.)
Fee: $25.00

Balance and flexibility are two things we all strive for in life, so why not incorporate them into your fitness regime? In this flexibility training class, we will focus on improving all over flexibility and balance through Dance, Pilates, and Yogic movements. Flexibility training is a vital component of fitness that maintains joint mobility and muscle health, and relieves daily stress and tension. Please come prepared with a towel (hand size to medium), Pilates bands (or yoga straps), tennis ball, and a mat. Bands that work the best do not have the handles at the ends, though traditional resistance bands would be fine too (they come in varying "weights" so find one that is comfortable for you) that can be found at any department store: Target, Wal-Mart, Sports Authority, etc.

Wednesdays: Yoga with Jean Torrey-Camey

Date: Wednesdays 8 Session Series (February 18, 25 March 4, 11, 25 April 1, 8, 15) NOTE: There will be no class March 18 due to Spring Break.
Time: 12:15 - 1:00 pm

Yoga practice is an excellent way to build strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance while at the same time bringing our attention to what we're doing in the body, quieting the mind and reducing stress.  Please bring a mat to class.

Wednesdays: Zumba with Tracy Oles-Fairchild

Are you ready to party yourself into shape? That is exactly what the Zumba class is all about. It is an exhilarating, effective, easy to follow, Latin-inspired calorie-burning dance fitness party that is moving people toward joy and health.
