Institute for Urban Health Partnerships

IUHP600x300The College of Nursing Institute for Urban Health Partnerships (IUHP) is one of few programs nationally that match expertise of faculty with the community to develop more effective healthcare solutions. The mission of the Institute for Urban Health Partnerships (IUHP) is to reduce health disparities and promote health for all through partnerships with community-bases organizations and integration of education, research, practice and policy activities in Wisconsin and beyond.

Through integrating education, research, and service the IUHP provides:

  • Nurse run community-nursing centers with an emphasis of service to the uninsured and under-insured;
  • Faculty expertise and collaborations with community social service and health agencies;
  • Community-setting clinical experiences for students in urban populations;
  • Practice-based research with goals to reduce health risks of those most susceptible to health disparities.

The Institute for Urban Health Partnerships provides organizational support for the nursing centers: House of Peace Community Nursing Center and Silver Spring Community Nursing Center.
