Infomatics600x300College Faculty researchers are leaders in the area of Informatics/Health Technology.  Research projects include the development/expansion of nursing taxonomies of care, such as the International Classification of Nursing Practice (ICNP), building and testing an electronic health record for primary nursing practice, the integration of best evidence for nursing practice into electronic health records, and the development of mHealth applications for self-management. A hallmark of research activities has been the collaboration with major health care systems to implement and test real world applications that expand traditional medical informatics to include the perspectives of nurses, patients and community residents.The College of Nursing is a co-founder of the UWM PhD in Health Informatics and the UWM Biomedical and Health Informatics Research Institute (BHIRI).
