Dr.
Prince, a nationally known policy strategist, was named Vice
Chancellor for Partnerships and Innovation at the University of
Wisconsin Milwaukee in September, 2000. As the Chief External Officer,
she is charged with the global responsibilities of managing external
relations for the University. This encompasses the building of innovative
and entrepreneurial bridges between academics and the broader private
and public sectors of the community through engagement of entities
such as international organizations, corporations, NGO's, higher
education associations, non-profits and other social and civic organizations.
Prior to this,
Dr. Prince held responsibilities as the lead strategist and implementer
for the Health Professions Partnerships Initiative collaborative
at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, as well as a Clinical
Laboratory supervisor for Covenant Health Care Systems. She also
holds a Clinical Associate Professor appointment in the College
of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. A native
of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Prince has received a Bachelor's in Medical
Technology, Masters in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and a doctorate
in Urban Education. She has been acknowledged as a 2007 Aspen Institute
Fellow and a 2009 Millenium Leadership Fellow of the American Association
of State Colleges and Universities. She has been actively engaged
in civic service at the local, regional, national, and international
level as a board member, trustee, and/or organizational board Chair.
Her current national board service is as a director for two national
boards, the Council on Foundations www.cof.org
and the Urban Libraries Council www.urbanlibraries.org/.
In recognition
of her commitment to community service, Prince has received numerous
awards from civic and professional organizations such as the Tempo
Mentor of the Year Award, The Business Journal 's Woman of Influence
award, the Community Leadership award (Thurgood Marshall Scholarship
Fund), Professional Dimensions' Sacagawea Award, and the S.E.T.
Ministry Transformation award. She was featured as one of the 10
Most Powerful Women in Milwaukee in the February 2006 issue of Milwaukee
Magazine.
Prince is a
trustee of two corporate boards, Managed Health Services of Wisconsin,
a subsidiary of the Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), and C. G. Schmidt
Construction Company.
