  Participating PROGRAMS

Beginning in the fall 2005 semester, students meeting the criteria listed below are required to have an Apple PowerBook laptop or approved equivalent computer for their coursework. Students must have a laptop, installed with the required software, with them on the first day of class September 6, 2005 in order to perform assignments and meet the requirements of the course and the degree program. Because all instructors in the participating degree program areas will assign exercises and projects on computers configured to meet the course requirements, students without the required machines and software may not be able to meet these course requirements.

The laptop requirement applies to students who have entered UWM in the fall of 2004 or after and have met the criteria for the participating programs described below. Students who have entered UWM prior to the fall of 2004 and who meet the criteria for one of the participating programs are not required to participate, but are strongly urged to purchase the laptop computer designated by the program. These students will be eligible for the same discount offered by Apple for the laptop program. All students should check with their program faculty with questions regarding laptop requirements.
