The choral ensemble experience at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee is diversified and comprehensive, ranging from traditional to experimental, classical to gospel, and intimate to grandiose.

Most ensembles are available to both music majors and non-music majors, providing opportunities for participation at all levels of interest and expertise, and bringing together musically interested students from across campus.

Each of the five choirs has its own identity, but choirs also combine for special events such as annual end-of-semester concerts and major concerts with orchestra.

Membership in UWM choral ensembles is open to any UWM student by audition. Becoming a member of one of our choirs can give you the opportunity to grow and develop as a musician, to make new friends and to be part of one of UWM’s most exciting and popular student activities.

Each year over 300 students take part in choral activities at UWM. Participants represent nearly all academic disciplines and majors. Seventy-five percent of the singers are majoring in areas other than music, and nearly all are undergraduates. All choir members enjoy the opportunity to sing in the beautiful, 800-seat Helen Bader Concert Hall of the Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on campus.

For the graduate student interested in majoring in choral music, the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee offers the MM degree in choral conducting, and the MM in Music Education: Choral Conducting Emphasis degree in choral music education.
