Graduate student and Leenhouts scholarship winner Chelsea Wait, who is currently enrolled in the doctoral program, participated in a community and art project in Milwaukee this summer. IN:SITE, an art organization that fosters temporary public art, with major support from the City of Milwaukee Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation, opened a yearlong art initiative on June 29th along Fond du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee, from 17th to 37th Street. “Art on Fond du Lac” is IN:SITE’s most cohesive installation. It will make this prominent artery more attractive, act as a catalyst for neighborhood development, increase transportation safety, and create cooperation between community partners.

Among the artists, Chelsea Wait, assisted by teams of volunteers, painted patterns on and inside windows at multiple sites along Fond du Lac Avenue. Her interview is at: http://www.radiomilwaukee.org/neighborhoods/art-fond-du-lac
