News & Media Services

As the central news source on campus, we tell the UWM story through an array of internal and external channels. Services include:

Media and Public Relations

As the liaison with the media, we pitch stories to major media outlets to showcase UWM’s expertise and raise the university’s profile. Our team of trained journalists excels at telling your story through news announcements and feature stories that are then distributed to local and national outlets, including UWM publications such as the UWM alumni magazine and the university’s homepage and news page. We also work with reporters to answer questions on deadline.

Publications

We produce the semiannual alumni magazine UWM Alumni, the faculty-staff newsletter UWM Report, the weekly UWM in the News posted at news.uwm.edu, the weekly e-announcements, and the annual Research Report. Check out the most recent issues or dig into the archives.

Social Media

Wondering how to keep up with the latest social media networks? Want to tap into cross-promotion opportunities through campus social media outlets? We can help you plan your social media strategy to engage your audience and spread the news about campus research and faculty and student success stories. We also manage UWM’s presence on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, Tumblr, Pinterest, G+, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Video Storytelling

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then what is a video worth? Compelling and highly visual, a video story about a person or your work can make an emotional impact. We share the voices of the UWM community through engaging videos on the university homepage, YouTube and other social media channels.

UWM Experts Directory

World cinema. Foreign policy. Marine biology. Whatever the topic, this searchable online directory connects journalists to more than 700 faculty and staff from Wisconsin’s leading urban research university.
